In 1744, the hymn writer Charles Wesley was leading a meeting in an upper room crammed with 100 worshippers. All of a sudden the floor fell into the room below! Wesley's reaction to this situation was inspiring. Seeing that no one was seriously injured he began to sing the doxology "Praise God from whom all blessings flow". Not only that but he went on to compose several hymns based on that event using the picture of the broken floor as a picture of uncertain things of this world and contrasting it with the unshakable nature of God, His Kingdom and His Word.
Do events in our lives shape our worship positively or negatively? When our world seems to be unsure His word is secure.
